Sarah
Keer-Keer
I live outside Edinburgh in Roslin village and much of my inspiration
comes from the surrounding countryside and days out with my
family. I carry my sketchbook everywhere we go, and paint and
draw as we play in the fields and woodlands. Ideas formed in
this way, are progressed into paintings (oil and acrylic), stitched
textiles and, finally, three-dimensional work such as nests,
cylinders and bowls.
I love natural forms, vibrant colour and dramatic, loose, fast
paintings.
In my three dimensional work I use pure silk fibres, cashmere,
embroidery thread and merino wool fibres. In the nests, I also
use natural materials such as moss and twigs from hedgerows
and fields. I like to make sculptures that are beautiful, tactile
and fascinating to touch and hold.
