EDINBURGH
INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE FESTIVAL

The
world's first and largest public festival devoted to the celebration
of science and technology which annually attracts over 120,000
visits. Every Easter, the city comes alive with shows, workshops,
exhibitions, talks, and unusual events around the city.
BELTANE
DATES:
1ST MAY 2003
The
Beltane Fire Festival is held every year during the night of
30th April on Calton Hill in Edinburgh. An audience of around
15 thousand people come to share the two hour procession and
wild after-events. Justifiably famous for its intensity and
colour, the event has become a much-loved feature of the Edinburgh
calendar since it was first organised in the mid 1980s.

STREET TO THE GRASSMARKET
DATE:
SUN 4th AUGUST 2003 AT 2pm
To Launch the start of the Festival Fringe a large cavalcade
of floats and performers on foot parade past cheering crowds
from the East end of Princes Street to the Grassmarket.
The performers advertise and give a taste of there shows to
the passers by.

The Edinburgh International Festival stages one of the greatest
celebrations of the arts, attracting audiences from around the
world to the city's thrilling atmosphere. The festivities offer
a unique opportunity to experience the excitement of live performance
by internationally renowned artists as well as the joy of discovering
new and unfamiliar works.

The
Edinburgh Fringe breaks its own record every year as the largest
arts festival on the planet (Guinness Book of Records). This
year, it brings you over 16,000 performances of the 1350 shows
in nearly 200 venues across Edinburgh.

MILITARY TATOO
5th - 27th August 2005
A
stunning display. Every year the military spectacular set against
the magnificent backdrop of Edinburgh Castle. Featuring Pipes
& Drums, Massed Military Bands, display teams, dancers and
acts from around the world.
EDINBURGH
INTERNATIONAL BOOK FESTIVAL
DATES:
10th -26th AUGUST 2003
Held
in Charlotte Square Gardens The Edinburgh International Book
Festival is the world's largest book festival. Presenting a
wide and varied programme for both adults and children. Bringing
together authors, poets, publishers and readers for discussions,
readings, lectures, debates and workshops.
EDINBURGH
INTERNATIONAL JAZZ & BLUES FESTIVAL
DATES:
26th - 4th AUGUST 2003
The
UK's longest running jazz festival. Concerts, theatres, clubs,
pubs, open air events, featuring all styles of jazz from international
artistes. This year the festival was launched by Van Morrison
playing The Edinburgh Playhouse.
WINTER
WONDERLAND
DATES:
28th NOVEMBER 2005- 1st JANUARY 2006
Over the Christmas period Princes Street Gardens transforms
into a Winter Wonderland complete with Fairy Lights in the trees,
Christmas Decorations an Ice Rink and a Funfair. There is also
a German Market with quaint wooden stalls which
sells hot food, crafts and gifts.

HOGMANAY
THE BIGGEST PARTY IN THE WORLD

31st DECEMBER 2005
The Scots are well known for celebrating the
New Year and where better to celebrate than in the Capital of
Scotland host to the biggest party in the World. Over 100,000
people gather in Princes Street and the Gardens to party, watch
popular bands perform and enjoy a magnificent fireworks display
at the stroke of midnight.
