Brenda Lenaghan

Brenda gained a diploma in Graphic Design from Glasgow School of Art. After leaving art school she worked for Bernat Klien, manufacturers of tweed in Galasheils for well known fashion designers including Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent and many others.

After a period of teaching in various Glasgow schools and later in Kilmalcolm she moved to Gullane in East Lothian and began painting. She firstly exhibited with the Scottish Society of Women Artists, then the RSA, RGI and RSW.

Awards: Anne Redpath Awards in 1975 and 1983, SSWA Special Award in 1980

Since then she has had solo exhibitions every year and she also exhibits regularly in mixed exhibitions.

Macaulay Gallery - Stenton, Gerbers Gallery - Glasgow, William Hardie - Glasgow, Open Eye Gallery - Edinburgh, Edinburgh Gallery- Edinburgh, Rendevous Gallery - Aberdeen, Duncan Campbell Gallery - London, Thompsons Gallery - London, Christopher Hull Gallery - London, Richard Hagen Gallery - Broadway.

"Ideas are always triggered by something I have seen, mainly on my travels which have taken me to India, Tibet, China, most of Europe, Russia and Japan where Japanese Art has had a profound effect on my work."
